The fourteen mile drive from Maggie Valley to Cherokee is an exhilarating one with fine mountain views abundant. You gain a 1500 foot ascent leaving Maggie Valley on Soco Road/19 as you wind through Soco Pass and past the entrance to the Blue Ridge Parkway. If you wanted to make a loop of the trip you could return to this point via the Blue Ridge Parkway in Cherokee near the Great Smoky Mountains National Park entrance. After Soco Pass you begin a long winding descent through the Eastern Cherokee Reservation along Soco Creek. You can’t miss Harrahs on your right as you come into Cherokee.

Amenities abound at this Casino resort, from Mandara full service spa, championship golf at Harrahs Sequoyah National, indoor and outdoor pools, and lush landscaping with a beautiful mountain river running right through the center of the property. Restaurants on the property include Ruth’s Chris Steak House, Brio’s Tuscan Grille, Johnny Rocket’s, Chef’s Stage Buffet, and several other cafes and eateries.

For a little nightlife the Essence nightclub features no cover charge, drink specials, regional musical acts, nightly DJs, and dancing. Also on premise is the 3,000 seat Event Center that has hosted big names like Hank Williams Jr., Lady Antebellum, Penn & Teller, Greg Allman and more!

As for the casino, it’s huge! The casino offers live craps, roulette, blackjack, mini baccarito, and poker. There are World Series of Poker Circuit Events at Harrah’s Cherokee. Games are No Limit Hold ‘em and Pot Limit Omaha with 4-5 tournament events each day of the tournament. Buy-ins range from $65 to $1,675 depending on the event entered. The gaming floor is filled with over 1400 slot and video poker machines spread out through the massive interior of the casino. Machine bets range from penny machines to $100 a bet machines.
